I recently ran into an issue with my Dish Network remote for the second room TV. One of the neighbors recently had a system installed, and their second remote began to change my channels as well as me changing theirs.
It was kind of funny at first, but quickly turned into an annoyance, especially when said neighbor was apparently up as late as I was. This was no fun getting yelled at from my wife for falling asleep with the remote in my hand because I had to be on guard to hit the recall button when the channel changed.
I found the solution for this in the manual for changing the remote control's address in
the event of a conflict between two like satellite receivers. There is a drawback to this. I could not find how to do it, and not change theirs, and still have the same problem.
It seems the solution is quite easy after some playing around. The original instructions to change the frequency of the problem remote are:
Press the sysinfo button on the remote you would like to change.
Hold down the SAT button until all mode buttons light up.
Enter a
number between 1 and 15 other than the number on the sysinfo screen that your second remote currently shows being used.
Press the pound (#) button.
Once the SAT button blinks three times,
press record.
As I said earlier, this is fine, but it will probably change their settings as well. To get around this, simply enter into sysinfo with remote 1 from your main TV, and do steps 2 - 5 with your second remote using your main TV also. You will not see any changes on the sysinfo screen until you hit record.
